The Position:  Claims Analytics Manager (Strategy & Reporting)

Overview:

This role will be more focused on report building using SQL, Access and Tableau.  Significant experience with data analytics, drawing conclusions and suggesting recommendations to executive management for strategy purposes.  It is preferred that the candidate have claims/insurance experience (but not required).

Job Summary:

The Claims Business Manager will:
  • perform complex claims operational data analysis requiring an advanced understanding of the business and analytical skills.
  • support a department, functional area or may assist with the entire line of business, and may also include supervisory responsibility.
  • be the subject matter expert in own area.
  • participate in special projects as requested by management.
  • work closely with Sr. field leaders in own department to set and implement strategy.
  • report to a Claims Business Manager II or III.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Performs complex Analysis/Forecasting for the leadership of the department, functional area or the business managers from multiple perspectives.
  • Draws sound and timely conclusions from the information available requiring more advanced understanding of financial, indemnity, expense, objectives, key performance indicators, personnel, operations and strategic planning.
  • Provides complex routine or adhoc reporting involving multiple perspectives and using multiple reporting platforms/data sources to the leadership of the department or functional area they support or to the Business Managers.
  • Responsible for individual special projects.
  • May contribute to work of other project teams.
  • May have supervisory responsibilities for lower level Clams Business team members.
  Education Requirements:
  • Four-year college degree.
  • Completion of, or actively pursuing a major insurance or financial designation.
 Experience Requirements:
  • Must be a US Citizen or possess a Green Card
  • Minimum of 6 (six) years of prior industry or related experience.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
 Special Skill Requirement:
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and reporting skills.
  • Technically advanced in using Microsoft Excel, Finance and Business Reporting Systems and developing competency in PowerPoint
  • Willingness to Travel - Occasionally
Ideal Candidate:
  • 6+ years industry experience. 
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a plus
  • Strong accounting, variance analysis, ROI/cost benefit analysis, planning, budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • Advanced technical skills including MS Office Suite and SAP.
  • Competent working knowledge of Business Objects and Mobius.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong financial background
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Proactive - works with several lines of business - can't wait for those managers to come to them.
Relocation:

Our Client does not provide a relocation allowance for this position but will consider candidates who are willing to self-relocate to the Woodland Hills, CA, area.
